Unsuspected Osseous Metastasis in Breast Cancer with a Negative Bone Scan


Case History:

51 year old female Ca left breast and palpable left axillary nodes.


Findings:

 

First min Sub MIP (A) and Sagittal post-contrast fat suppressed gradient Echo image (B) revealed an FDG avid left breast mass and non-mass enhancement and FDG avid left axillary nodes ( C)

 

FDG avid marrow lesions in C5 and left sacrum (arrows) (A, B, C, D) not identifiable on bone scan.
