64 year old female with pancreatic mass.
Axial STIR (A) and PET/MRI fused (B) images showing an FDG nonavid heterogeneous intensity mass in the head and neck region of the pancreas. The mass shows intense enhancement in the arterial phase (C).
MR angiography images show an aberrant artery (green arrows) arising from the Superior mesenteric artery (white arrow) and coursing posterior to and in close relation to the pancreatic mass. This was the Right Hepatic artery replaced to SMA and extending cranially to supply the hepatic parenchyma. This finding is of great significance as Intra Operative injury to the Aberrant Right Hepatic artery may have serious consequences. Blue arrow indicates the coeliac trunk.
This short PET-MRI Scan case was compiled by Dr. Sangeeta Taneja and Dr. Amarnath Jena (Nuclear Medicine Physician at PET-Suite @ Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sarita Vihar).
