Extralaryngeal Spread in Glottic Cancer

Case History:

69Y/M with Ca larynx. Staging evaluation.

Findings:

  • Axial PET CT fused (A), contrast CT (B), PET MR fused (C), and STIR MR image (D) at the same level reveal a metabolically active lesion involving the right vocal cord.

  • STIR MR image (D) reveals signal changes in the right thyroid lamina with ill-defined signal changes in the overlying strap muscles suggesting extra laryngeal extension (arrow) which is not appreciated in the CT or fused PET CT images.

Case Study Prepared by:

This short PET-MRI Scan case was compiled by Dr. Sangeeta Taneja and Dr. Amarnath Jena (Nuclear Medicine Physician at PET-Suite @ Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sarita Vihar).
