Parkinson’s Disease Case

Case History:

68 year male with Parkinsonism.

Findings:

Axial FLAIR (A), T2 (B), SWI (C) and Post Contrast T1 (D) images show no significant parenchymal abnormality. PET and fused PET MR images (E,F) reveal symmetrical moderate to marked hypometabolism in bilateral parietal-temporal lobes with hypermetabolism in bilateral basal ganglia (L>>R)

Qualitative and quantitative comparative analysis to a standard age-matched database using the SCENIUM software shows relative FDG hypometabolism (arrows) involving bilateral parieto-temporal regions (R>>L), bilateral cerebellum and mild hypometabolism in bilateral frontal regions. Also, the note is made of relative hypermetabolism (arrowheads) in the bilateral putamen and caudate nucleus (L>>R) feature seen in Parkinson’s disease. (A, B).
