47 year old female with recurrent generalized myoclonic jerks accompanied by progressive memory loss and worsening behavioral disturbances.
Axial FLAIR (A, E), post-contrast T1 (B, F), PET (C, G) and PET/MRI (D, H) fused images of the brain showing ill-defined mild diffuse FLAIR hyperintensity discernible in bilateral hippocampal regions and basal ganglia (arrowheads) with symmetrical increased FDG uptake in bilateral gangliocapsular regions and discrete focal increased FDG uptake in bilateral hippocampi (arrows).
81 year old male with altered sensorium and suspected encephalitis underwent FDG PET /MRI to rule out any paraneoplastic syndrome.
There were Gyriform altered intensity areas on FLAIR axial (A, B) coronal (C) with corresponding increased FDG uptake (D, E,) and increased perfusion (F) in the right frontal parasagittal region including the pericingulate gyrus, right inferior frontal and perisylvian regions consistent with encephalitis.
This short PET-MRI Scan case was compiled by Dr. Sangeeta Taneja and Dr. Amarnath Jena (Nuclear Medicine Physician at PET-Suite @ Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sarita Vihar).
